General

Each committee is responsible for the planning, staffing, promoting, budgeting and funding of its functions or events.  They should work closely with the Communications Committee to publicize the events and should recognize sponsors before, during and after the event.

Attendance/Membership

  • Welcome new members to TCH via a telephone call and website posting.

  • Promote TCH whereby members and/or potential new members want to get involved.

  • Be available at monthly luncheons and other events to assist Reception Committee with check in, etc.

  • Investigate and recommend membership applications for board consideration.

  • Contact delinquent members for payment.

  • Strive to maintain and increase attendance at all TCH activities.

Program & Social Event Committee 

  • The function of the Program Committee is to research relevant transportation related issues thru various transportation media and thru suggestions from TCH members and professional associations to secure Program Speakers/Presenters for the Transportation Club monthly meetings.

  •  Secure Speaker

  • Obtain topic information and forward to Executive Secretary, Publicity Committee, and Communications Committee

  • Obtain Speaker/Presenter biography and forward copy to Executive Secretary and President

  • Assist Speaker or Presenters as requested i.e. transportation if needed to meeting, obtaining audio visual equipment, making copies for handouts etc.

  • Organize social events other than the monthly luncheons to promote the value of TCH membership, i.e. boat trip, sports outing, Oktoberfest. etc.

  • Make Christmas party arrangements.

  • Invite Past Presidents and make arrangements for Past President day.

  • Arrange for Installation of Officers meeting and ceremony.

Communications/Publicity

·     Work with Webmaster to keep website updated

·      Prepare monthly newsletter to be emailed.

  • Collect information from board members and committee chairs regarding club activities and publish and promote in newsletter, on website and in local periodicals to generate interest and participation.

  • Steward media relations.

  • Work to keep the club visible in the community and the local transportation/logistics industry and promote membership recruitment and retention.

  • Secure advertisers for club website, membership directory and similar publications.

  • Secure sponsors and door prizes for club luncheons and other meetings.

·         Assist other committee chairs (education, golf etc) with sponsorship endeavors.

  • Organize and present seminars relating to topics of interest to the club.

  • Assist students of all ages in learning about the transportation industry as a career opportunity

  • Distribute scholarship funds to individuals or institutions of higher learning

  • Keep the membership aware of continuing education opportunities in the transportation field.

·          Collect and distribute information on member deaths, illness, weddings, child birth, graduations etc.

·          Send cards, flowers, donations, attend funerals etc as appropriate.

·          Determine members worthy of recognition, secure and present those awards

·         Meet on or before March 15 each year to nominate officer and director candidates as directed by the club bylaws.

Ballot & Tellers Committee

  • Assign positions on ballot by random draw. Have the official ballot and return envelope mailed to eligible members by April 17th.  Count ballots and report the results to the President.
